You are a life saver, thanks for your blog. I bought my 440QE on vacation in another state and if it wasn't for your blog using the BSR I would still be confused.
I totally appreciate your generosity.

You are a gem! Believe it or not....I had no idea what that funny looking plastic thing was for. Thanks for posting a pic of your machine....I now know it's for holding the plastic tray in place. I wonder what else you are going to teach me?! Boy am I happy to have found your blog!!!

Hi Amy,

So sorry about that! The link to part 1 of this post is here:

http://www.dognamedbanjo.com/2008/11/23/keeping-the-dust-bunnies-at-bay/

I don't have a tutorial on how to make the cover, so much as just the dimensions posted here. To do it, you'd need:

External:
1 piece - 18" x 6 3/4" (this is the top)
2 pieces - 6 3/4" x 13 1/2" (sides)
2 pieces - 18" x 13 1/2" (front and back - this could be patchwork or anything else that results in this size)

Lining:
Same pieces as above, in lining fabric

Interfacing or batting:
Same pieces as above

Bias tape - enough to get all around the bottom edge (don't know exactly how much - 1 package should suffice!)

Construct a box out of the lining first and another box out of the external pieces, then another separate box with the batting, sandwich them together and bind with bias tape. Mine is pretty crude and was a quickie with no hand sewing. Good luck!

Thanks for supplying the measurements for the cover. I just bought a 440 QE and it needs a new dress! :)
