Things I like that other people made.

There’s a thread going on in the Amy Butler-Inspired Bag Flickr group where people are listing their 5 favorite bags that people submitted. I was inspired, so here are my top picks!

Go give props to these peeps on Flickr!

(Clockwise from top right:)

joneshousestudios Frenchy Bag

Aren’t these polka dots perfect with the Etsuko fabric? Love it. I would carry this every day if I had it.

jackzeunen’s L’Aqua Tote

This one struck my eye immediately when I first saw it. Amazing detail, really different, and great use of different textures and fabrics. Way to make rattan handles look awesome.

Jenna Lou Design’s Fiona

Love the colors and the shape. So cute!

CreativeReverie’s Barcelona Bag (blogged here)

Adorable! And so very AB inspired.

moderngirl531’s Kate bag

Probably my favorite of the group! I adore the front pockets and the fabric choice. (Also awesome because I think I’m about to be on an orange kick. I think everything that’s even remotely orange is catching me lately. Maybe spring fever?)

You know, there are so, so many choices and so so many talented people out there that it’s hard to pick just 5, but it’s all that I can muster at the moment, seeing as it’s late, late, late (daylight savings + afternoon nap = 3AM blogging…) But it’s funny – now that I put my favorites together in one spot, it appears that I’m drawn to bags of a similar shape these days. Aren’t they all fabulous? I think the contest results are announced today. Should be neat to see who wins!

I’ve been addicted to that Flickr group since this contest ordeal started. It’s sad that it’ll all be over! Anyone know of another bag-making contest in the works? I love seeing everyone’s great designs!

P.S., Wish I could have linked to everyone’s blogs, but I don’t have the information. (If you’re reading this and you have a blog, send your URL and I’ll include in this post!)

Awww, thanks for the awesome compliment on my bag. I really had a lot of fun participating in this contest (and am really eager to find out who won!). I feel the same way as you…I’ll be sad when this contest is over.

I have a purse challenge. I announce a theme every two months, and then participants send me a jpg of what they made. I post a gallery per theme on flickr. This time I’m even offering a little prize! Usually it’s sewing, but the current challenge is to remake a readymade bag (maybe a vintage find at the thrift shop). So collage on it, or paint on it, or sew a new cover, or embroider it, or…
Spread the word. The blog is valuable for the links alone! Tons of tutorials in the sidebar.

[…] I would have been here posting about it long ago. Several wonderful people did win (though none of my faves), and they deserve it! Go see […]
