Maroon Grommet Bag

In the theme of the craft room makeover, this maroon grommet bag photo shoot involves the ladder that I’ve been lugging around for the last two days to scrape, mask, edge, and finally paint.

Isn’t the bag cute?  It’s the “real” bag that this grommet bag prototype was meant to prototype.  I actually owe the success of this bag to a coworker (hi Kristen!), who let me take home her similar bag to get dimensions to something more usable.

The bag will hold just about anything you can think to put in it.

The inside has the ever-stunning Amy Butler Lotus fabric, and a handy metal snap to keep it all bundled together.

The inside has two big pockets perfect for the things you need to get to in a hurry.

I plan on making more of these and maybe throwing a few out there in my Etsy store at a later date.  I’ll let you know!

Talk to me about grommets. That bag looks lovely and now you’ve got me thinking I *need* to make one. 🙂 Do you need a special grommet tool? Is it hard? Did you swear? Be honest.

Robyn – I’m CRAZY for grommets. Love love love it!

The grommets are super easy and tool-free! They’re actually plastic (which is kinda lame, but sturdy!), and just snap together after you cut a hole through the fabric. The only trouble is if you have heavy interfacing like this bag, it’s too thick to snap the pieces together, so you have to trim it back to make it work. I say you should totally go for it!

Melinda, I’ll let you know if any more make it to Etsy. This one’s sold already…
